A long-lost play by Michelangelo Buonarroti the Younger - great nephew, heir and namesake of the celebrated sculptor, painter and architect. And - in his own right - the most successful playwright at the Florentine Court in the late-sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries.
Why did Michelangelo the Younger decide to write a five act comedy with a Jew in the title role? And why was L'Ebreo / The Jew never performed, published or even circulated in manuscript?
